Construction Report for Wednesday, October 12, 2011

The threat of rain and clouds greeted our 48 volunteers but we just pretended the weather was beautiful and Steve proceeded with our work day schedule and what all we would be doing.  As we worked diligently, the weather calmed down and a little blue sky and a little sun peeped through with nice temperatures!

Our families working today were Alicia, Iris and Laura who brought a new volunteer, Ruben, and he worked like crazy.  Welcome Ruben, please come back. Ruth Zapata, Habitat homeowner # 47 (known as Ruth Alvarado when her home was built) worked with us today.  We dedicated her home May 2009 and it was great to see her!

Our lunch was provided by the Rib Shack!!!  The owner, Bob, cooked us some smoked barbecued hamburgers and how GREAT they were with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, pickles, potato salad and various type cookies.  If you've not been to the Rib Shack, please do!  You will have the best ribs ever!  It is on old Hwy 4.   Thank you so much.

Phyllis mentioned that she communicates with Jeff Jeffcoat and although his health condition doesn't allow him much activity, he continues to look out for Habitat by finding all kinds of freebies in the way of paint, tools and stuff we can use.  He misses us and sends his regards to everyone.  Needless to say, all of us who know him miss him as well.  Thank you Jeff!   Hail to our former Habitat President!!!
